E-Letter Guidelines: 

 

The goal of this program is to remind women that they are not alone in this world. We want to make them feel loved, heard, and seen in their grief. Empathy is key- we can relate to what she’s going through!

 

As a letter writer for E-Letters of Love, you only have to write one letter. Please write the letter from your heart. Type or handwrite your letter on standard computer paper that is 8.5 x 11 inches. You can decorate the letter or use patterned computer paper,  but you don’t have to. You can also choose to write your letter using the Rocketbook Smart Reusable Notebook Letter Size (8.5" x 11") 

 

Include the items listed below in your letter.

• Open with a generic greeting of your choice.

• State that you are sorry for her loss or something to that effect. Show empathy.

• Share whatever you are comfortable with about your own pregnancy loss. Consider including: 

  • The type of pregnancy loss you experienced. 

  • Other life stressors you had at the same time (i.e. being a military spouse, single mom, recent loss of job, loss of family members/friends, etc.).

  • Whether you had other children at the time of your loss.

• Share how you got through that difficult time in your life. If you are still working through it, share that too.

  • Consider including: any resources, books, counseling, church groups, etc.

• Share any encouraging words you have.

  • Consider including: scripture, a direct quote, or some words from a book.​

• Provide a closing or signoff that includes your first name or initials and the name of your state. Or if you live outside the U.S., provide the name of your country.

 

You've finished writing your letter. Now what?

• When you finish typing your letter, save it as a PDF and email it to elettersoflove@gmail.com.

• You can also scan your hard copy letter if you handwrote it, save it as a PDF, and email it to us.

• If you prefer to send a hard copy of your letter to us, you can mail your letter to our PO Box and we will scan and upload your letter into our system.

What will we do with your letter?

​

E-Letters of Love Admin will review your letter and confirm that we have received it. We will send your one letter as part of a letter bundle to many women who need your words of support and encouragement. 

​

• Admin will merge 5 to 10 letters from different letter writers into one PDF and send it to recipients.

• We will share your letter with recipients as a PDF attachment in an email to them from elettersoflove@gmail.com. 

• Admin will send letter writers an email once per year to remind you to review your letter or send us a new one. If you choose to change your letter or write a new one, we will replace the old version with the newest one you send us.

• Any positive feedback from recipients of the letters will be shared in a general manner with all letter writers by email when applicable in our quarterly newsletter.
